Fighter KiteToday’s Ripley’s Believe It or Not! comic had mention of the Basant carnival held in Lahore, Pakistan where a common event is “kite fighting”, so of course I had to look into it. During these events, fighter kite strings are outfitted with blades, glass shards and/or chemicals in order to cut the lines of the other kites during dog fights. There are even mentions of mishaps in which the kites’ weaponry has killed or injured spectators. Once a kite is cut, there is a free-for-all chase of looting the downed fighter, so unfortunately any attempts at aerial photos would likely be pilfered.
