I know a person who makes me believe that many voters are self-important individuals, who put far too much research into whom they will vote for in elections. This person took notes and watched the presidential debates with keen interest, drove miles to attend speeches of each candidate, reads/watches every news item regarding each candidate, and in the end will very likely announce to everyone when their decision has been made, only to add that they’ll be doing their civic duty by not telling us who they voted for.
So, is he a self-important ass or a model American? Perhaps if you knew this person, you’d know why I’d choose the former.
I’ll admit I haven’t done any reading or research on the subject of how the electoral college works. In fact, until a few years ago, if asked what the electoral college was, I would’ve guessed that it was a special school for campaign-presidents-to-be. In short, I can’t stand politics and find it a big waste of most voters’ time. Hell, I’m putting to much thought into it just posting this entry.
If you live in a non-swing-vote state, you should already know who’s going to win in your state. Until I’m convinced otherwise, I can only reason that one wouldn’t vote for one candidate over another so they can proclaim, “well he didn’t get my vote,” and possibly sleep better at night knowing that.
